This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor looking to join a successful contractor with a strong pipeline of work and genuine long-term career prospects.
The role is primarily office-based in Sheffield, with regular visits to project sites.
The Role Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from tender stage through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered profitably and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare tender and contract documentation, including bills of quantities and cost plans.
- Review tender information and assess project scope, risks and opportunities.
- Identify, analyse and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with feasibility studies and support procurement strategies.
- Procure and commercially manage subcontractors and suppliers.
- Work closely with operational and site teams to monitor costs, resources and project progress.
- Undertake regular site visits to measure works, gather valuation data and assess completed works.
- Prepare interim valuations and applications for payment, including variations and additional works.
- Produce accurate cost reports, forecasts and budget updates.
- Monitor project profitability and maintain effective cost control measures.
- Prepare subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts.
- Support site teams with the recording and documentation of completed works.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and client requirements.
- Assist in the successful commercial delivery of multiple surfacing and civil engineering projects.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have previous Quantity Surveying experience within highways, surfacing, road construction or civil engineering environments.
Essential Requirements- Proven Quantity Surveying experience within highways, asphalt surfacing, road construction or infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing projects commercially from tender stage through to final account.
- Strong understanding of measurements, rates, valuations, variations and applications for payment.
- Experience in forecasting, budget management, cost reporting and commercial risk management.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational and analytical abilities.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable- Groundworks or wider civil engineering experience.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
