Fronteer Gallery are looking for small artworks for their exhibition Rituals
Perhaps you are inspired by religious or folk rituals, ancient or forgotten rituals, or just the everyday rituals we perform in life. However you chose to interpret this theme, we would love to see your work.
Work can be in any medium, except film or audio. Works should be 35 cm × 35 cm or less, including any frames and mounts if applicable.
We welcome 3‑D and sculptural work which should fit on a 30 cm × 30 cm plinth, and should not exceed 35 cm (height) × 30 cm × 30 cm.
Work can be framed or unframed. Unframed work should be suitable to be hung using Command Strips.
Artists are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of work for the exhibition. Please complete a separate form for each submission. You may provide a short description of no more than 100 words, but this will not be displayed alongside the work.
UK based artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit. It is free to apply, and only successful artists pay a fee of £28 for each piece of work selected.
Work can be offered for sale during the exhibition, and there is a commission charge of 10 %.
In return for your fee, you will get a private view evening with free drinks, which you are welcome to bring friends and family along to, invigilation throughout, and promotion of the exhibition online through social media posts.
Please note, the gallery is upstairs and there is no disabled access.
DATESThe exhibition will run from 21st April - 7th May 2026.
There will be an opening event on Saturday 21st April 4‑6 pm.
The submission deadline is 23rd March 2026.
Successful artists will be contacted by 25th March 2026.
Successful artists are welcome to send their work by post.
Work sent by post should reach us by 9th April 2026 at the latest.
Artists are also welcome to deliver work in person to the gallery during gallery opening hours between 25th March and 9th April.

Successful artists should pay their hanging fee by 9th April 2026.
Work can be collected from the gallery between 19th‑28th May 2026 during gallery opening hours.
If you would like your work returning to you by post please be aware that we charge a fee which includes a £4 handling fee and the cost of Tracked 48 (no signature required) postage. Larger parcels can be returned through Parcel force and will be sent Express 48. Couriers cannot collect your work from the gallery and we do not print postage labels.
All work must be complete at the time of submission. Any work which varies from the original piece or size (size includes framed size of the work if applicable) submitted may be rejected. If you wish to submit any form of print, it will be your responsibility to print it off and prepare it for exhibition before delivering it to us.

ABOUT FRONTEERFronteer are a husband and wife artist‑led initiative who created exhibition opportunities for artists. In 2020 we opened our gallery, moving in 2022 to our current location in Orchard Square, Sheffield city centre. The gallery has 2 exhibition spaces.
We receive hundreds of visitors during an exhibition and would typically expect over 300 visitors during a 3‑week exhibition. Our private view events can attract up to 100+ visitors.
We have 2 Instagram accounts to share images of artists' work and news about the gallery. @ has over 4500 followers and @ has over 5500 followers. Instagram is our main social media platform but we also share posts on Facebook, You Tube and Threads.
