Clinical Policy Educator – Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

Responsibilities
  • Autonomously lead PIP clinical and decision‑maker education material, providing final sign‑off before release to assessment providers.
  • Review education material to ensure alignment with current DWP policy, external quality assurance and national guidance, and that it is implementable by health assessment providers.
  • Collaborate with policy and contracts management teams to keep the PIPAG up to date and aligned with best practice.
  • Work with senior leadership in operations and decision‑making to ensure clinical education material used by decision makers is accurate, best practice‑aligned and fit for purpose.
  • Rapidly identify when issues arise and implement measurable corrective actions.
  • Draft and deliver high‑quality advice (including in‑person) to the clinical education lead and senior officials on policy and education material related to disability benefits.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice on FOI, judicial review, PQ and UQs within specialist disability benefit areas.
  • Lead ad hoc strategic work/projects to address improvement areas.
Person specification
  • Clinical or clinically related background, registered with the NMC, GMC or HCPC with significant postgraduate experience.
  • Significant experience working as a PIP disability benefits assessor.
  • Doctor applicants must hold a full licence to practice with a route to revalidation.
Experience Key Criteria
  • Experience as a PIP assessor undertaking functional assessments.
  • Experience in reviewing, writing or quality‑assuring education material.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, delivering high‑quality advice and building trust and credibility.
  • Ability to reassess and prioritise workloads, manage competing demands and deliver outcomes at pace.

Occupational health or work‑health expertise would be beneficial.
