Job Title: UX Designer

Department: Product

Location: Sheffield or London

Working Pattern: Hybrid, includes 3 days each week in the office

Contract Type: Full time, permanent

Salary: Up to £51,000 per annum

Role overview

We’ll be upfront:
We are in the middle of a major organisational transformation. It’s a bit chaotic, processes are still being defined, and the “right way” to do things is often something you’ll have to help us figure out.

We aren't looking for a designer who needs a perfectly polished brief to get started. We need an architect of order - someone who sees a lack of process as an invitation to build a better one, and who finds “the grey area” an exciting place to work rather than a frustrating one.

The Mission

Your goal is to turn complex user insights into simple, accessible products while simultaneously helping us stabilise our design function. You will be accountable for the entire design lifecycle in a specific product area (we have a lot), and may sometimes need to move into different business areas as and when required. You’ll also be a key player in our Design Operations (Design Ops), helping us move from “organised chaos” to a high-performing design engine.

Key Responsibilities

Navigating Discovery & Design

  • Continuous Discovery:
Drive the design process using a “Dual-Track Agile” approach. You’ll be learning (Discovery) while building (Delivery), often in parallel and working alongside our UX Researchers.
  • Lean Experimentation:
Deconstruct large, sometimes messy ideas into lean experiments. You’ll help us learn what works as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Design Ops

  • Bringing Order to Chaos:
Partner with Senior UX Designers and Design Leadership to refine the “manual.” You’ll help define our Definition of Ready, streamline handoffs, and fix broken workflows.
  • Design System Stewardship:
Contribute to and help govern our Design System. We need someone who cares about component architecture and documentation to help us scale.
  • Facilitating Clarity:
Lead workshops and Fig Jam sessions to get stakeholders on the same page when requirements feel thin.
  • Leading Ceremonies:
Support and lead design-specific syncs like Design Critiques and peer reviews to help us maintain quality as we grow.
  • Cross Functional Product Teams:
Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers. You’ll need to involve developers early to ensure that what we’re dreaming up is actually buildable within our current constraints.
  • Measuring What Matters:
Help us move beyond “just shipping” by defining and tracking UX metrics, sometimes coming up with creative ways to do so.
What kind of person will succeed in this role?
  • Super Adaptable:
You can pivot when business needs shift and maintain your cool when a project’s scope changes mid-sprint.
  • A Self‑Starter:
You are a self‑directed “owner.” You don’t wait for permission or a perfect handoff; you proactively identify what needs to move forward and you rally the people to do it.
  • An Expert with the Tools:
You have mastery of Figma (Auto‑layout, Variables, Components), are comfortable using research tools like Askable or Maze to get the data you need, and are proactively exploring new innovative ways to work in the AI space.
  • A Pragmatic Problem Solver:
You know when to fight for the “perfect” UX and when to deliver a “good enough” solution to keep the momentum going.
  • Comfortable with Dynamic processes:
You’ve ideally worked in a SaaS environment or a company undergoing a transformation. You understand that “process” is a living thing.
  • Systems Thinker:
You see the big picture. You understand how a small change in one feature affects the entire ecosystem.
What do you get in return?
  • 25 days annual leave rising to 30
  • State of the art offices
  • Access to a range of benefits via My Benefits World
  • Free eye care cover
  • Life Assurance
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • EAP (Employee assistance programme)
  • Quarterly Tes Socials
  • Access to an extensive Learning and Development menu
