We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Acute Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.

Our client has recently been awarded £30 million to restructure and redesign its front door services, working alongside their Emergency Department colleagues. They are looking for someone to join the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). The successful appointee will join an existing team of senior medical staff including Consultants & Associate Specialists. You will become part of a well-established, friendly team and will help drive improvements in patient care.

As a senior team member, you will play a key role in training and supervising junior colleagues. The Trust values staff wellbeing and offers a variety of support to maintain wellbeing. Their Health and Wellbeing team received a National Award in 2020 for their efforts.

The department expects the appointee to fulfill duties such as:

  • Multidisciplinary team working with regular MDT discussions.
  • Providing evidence-based care in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Managing patient care responsibilities, including administrative duties supported by secretarial staff.
  • Developing sub-specialty interests aligned with Division needs and Trust strategy.
  • Providing cover during colleagues' leave, in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours consultant rota as detailed in the job plan.
  • Teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, along with contributions to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education.
  • Engaging in clinical audits and ongoing medical education activities.
  • Our client is based in a beautiful suburb in SW England, close to international airports and reputable schools.
