Consultant Gynaecologist - Subspecialist in Gynaecological Oncology

We are looking to appoint a Whole‑Time Consultant Gynaecologist with a subspecialist interest in Gynaecological Oncology to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Jessop Wing of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well‑established careers.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full‑time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a Comprehensive Gynaecological Oncology Service. They will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence and will have continuing responsibility for patients in Their care and the proper functioning of the department.

The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.

The successful candidate must be registered with the GMC with a valid licence to practice. For further information please visit the GMC website and click on the Registration and Licensing link. You will also have completed Specialist Training (or equivalent) and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or have a CCT date within six months of the date of interview.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practise.
  • Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview
  • If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • CCT in Obs and Gynae and subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology
  • MD or PhD or equivalent
Clinical governance and audit
  • Experience in performing clinical audit
  • Completion and publication of a substantive audit project or service improvement project
Personal attributes
  • Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of experience of working as part of a multi‑professional team
  • The applicant must demonstrate skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking the English language that enables effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues as set out in the GMC' good medical practice (2013).
