Behaviour Support Assistant

Teach Match is recruiting dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistants to work in secondary schools across Doncaster. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will support students with behavioural and emotional needs, implementing strategies to improve behaviour and create a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and support students with behavioural challenges.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring individual behaviour plans.
  • Provide one‑on‑one or small group support, encouraging positive behaviour and social interactions.
  • Track and report on students' progress, providing updates to staff and parents.
  • Work with at‑risk students, offering targeted interventions and mentoring.
  • Deliver small group sessions or structured activities to improve social skills and emotional resilience.
  • Reinforce positive behaviour through praise and rewards, fostering a safe learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom management to ensure a structured and orderly environment.
  • Ensure the safety and well‑being of students, following safeguarding and child protection policies.
Person Specification
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school setting.
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and how to apply them effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with students, school staff, and parents.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, particularly those facing behavioural or emotional challenges.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A proactive, solution‑focused approach to addressing behavioural issues.
  • Commitment to supporting inclusion and helping all students achieve their potential.
