Special School Support Staff - Sheffield Contract Type

Full-time / Term-time only

We are seeking a resilient and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 2:1 support for a young person with additional needs in a school setting. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about making a positive impact on pupils' learning and wellbeing.

• Deliver individualised support to a young person with complex needs, working as part of a 2:1 provision.
• Implement strategies outlined in the pupil's EHCP and behaviour plan.
• Support the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development in line with school policies.
• Use Team Teach techniques to manage challenging behaviour safely and effectively.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes engagement and progress.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and interventions.

• Team Teach training (current certification).
• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Strong behaviour management skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resilience, patience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

• Experience working in a special school or alternative provision.
• Knowledge of autism, ADHD, and other additional needs.
