Appointment Type: Term Time/Full time
Hours: 22 – 36.5hours per week (Mon-Fri) including school holidays.
Location: Various primary schools.
Office base
: 98 Sheffield Road
Responsible to: Primary Curriculum Manager
(full driving licence, and access to vehicle essential)
MAIN PURPOSE OF POST:- To deliver high quality curriculum Physical Education lessons in contracted primary schools for PPA delivery.
- To motivate and engage primary pupils to become physically active.
- To deliver fun, engaging physical activities at lunchtime and structured after school clubs.
- To be a lead member of staff for holiday camps (wage uplift when ‘leading’)
- To deliver workshops to different audiences as part of the membership offer.
- To plan and deliver high quality curriculum PE lessons that meet Ofsted and National Curriculum requirements.
- To ensure that curriculum lessons offer progressive development and differentiation depending on the level of the participants within each session and across a scheme of work.
- To foster a culture of collaboration and communication with teachers and other stakeholders involved in curriculum delivery.
- To teach a minimum of 2 days of curriculum provision
- The option of delivery of PE lessons in secondary school (if required).
- To plan structured coaching sessions for out-of-school hours or interventions appropriate to the pupils and as required by the schools.
- To deliver sport specific or multi-sport community sessions as required and at the need of the company.
- To be a lead member of staff on holiday camps across different sites as required (wage uplift for hours as a lead).
- To deliver sessions as a head coach on camp which are high quality, fun, achieve the HAF requirements and take place in a safe environment.
- To support assistant coaches and play assistants on camp to ensure sessions are high quality, safe and meeting the needs of the group.
- To ensure all administrative tasks are completed before, during and after holiday camps in a timely and efficient manner as required.
- To deliver a range of workshops for the Spark Active membership offer.
- To support the design and resourcing of workshops as required.
- To ensure evaluations from workshops are collected on the day of delivery.
- To be a main contact for PE leaders in a cluster of schools, communicate regularly to ensure they are accessing all aspects of their membership offer including events, workshops, CPD and support with the Spark Active app (if required)
- To plan structured coaching sessions for out of school hours provision appropriate to the pupils.
- To support the Coach Coordinator with distribution, collection, and maintenance of all sports equipment for OSH in schools and holiday camps.
- To be available to cover as required, including curriculum, OSH and workshops.
- To be available to deliver and support other projects and one-off events for Spark Active.
- To always adhere to Spark Active key conditions of employment.
- To always adhere to the Spark Active Safeguarding & Child protection policy. Individuals have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people.
- To ensure all PE, sport and recreation activities take place in a safe environment with due regard to Health and Safety recommendations.
- To demonstrate knowledge of accidents, incidents, and emergency procedures and to report any incidents in the correct way.
- Be committed to promote and market Spark Active via social media on a regular basis within data protection & safeguarding guidelines.
- To ensure equity in sport and promote fair play and the School Games values where appropriate.
- To promote exit routes to individuals whenever possible.
- Contribute to the overall ethos, aims and values of Spark Active and be a valued team member.
- To promote the work, image of Spark Active by always maintaining high standards of personal appearance and adopting a friendly, professional approach to the public.
- Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others.
- To undertake appropriate professional development including adhering to the principle of performance management.
- To set an example, use initiative and be proactive.
- Attendance at appropriate staff meetings and training.
- Commitment to travel to different school sites for all aspects of job role.
- To commit and engage in one of the Spark Active working groups.
