The Governors of St Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School are excited to invite applications for a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support a small group of children with additional educational needs across the school, and largely based in KS1. The position is permanent and term-time only. This role is due to begin on Monday 13 April 2026, although earlier and later start dates can be accommodated.

This is a 30-hour per week role, working closely with our class teachers, SENCo and outside agencies to help children achieve their full potential—socially, emotionally and academically. The role may include some one-to-one and small group work, as well as supporting children within the classroom. A positive attitude, strong communication skills and a good sense of humour are essential.

What we can offer:
  • Wonderful children who are eager to learn and full of potential
  • A warm and welcoming school community
  • A supportive and experienced staff team who work collaboratively and laugh together
  • A commitment to high-quality training and development
  • A school rooted in Catholic values, where everyone is known and loved
  • A chance to make a real difference to the lives of children who need you
We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience of working with children with SEND, ideally in a primary school setting
  • Can show initiative and adapt to meet the needs of individual children
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly with adults and children alike
  • Is flexible, calm under pressure, and always ready to lend a hand
  • Has a kind heart and a patient nature
  • Will uphold the Catholic ethos of our school and be committed to safeguarding all pupils

St Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Online searches may be carried out on shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence process.
