Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Overview

Location: Brent, NW2 (commutable from Harlesden, Willesden Green, Neasden, Wembley, Cricklewood)

Salary: £110-£130 per day

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Full-time, long-term

We are excited to be recruiting a confident and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Brent. This varied and rewarding role combines whole-class teaching through PPA cover with classroom support across all key stages—perfect for an experienced practitioner with strong behaviour management skills and a positive presence in the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering PPA cover lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, following teacher planning and the school curriculum
  • Leading whole-class learning confidently while maintaining high behaviour expectations
  • Supporting targeted groups and individual pupils in core subjects
  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt activities, prepare resources, and create an inclusive classroom environment
  • Acting as a positive role model, promoting engagement, consistency, and high standards
  • Supporting the wider school community as needed throughout the day
  • Confident delivering lessons and supporting learning across multiple year groups
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to create calm, structured classrooms
  • Secure subject knowledge across the primary curriculum, particularly English and Maths
  • Positive, reliable, adaptable, and an excellent communicator and team player
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Experienced HLTA or highly skilled Teaching Assistant ready to step into an HLTA-level role
  • Ability to deliver lessons and support learning across multiple year groups
  • Experience with behaviour management and creating calm, structured environments
  • Strong subject knowledge across the primary curriculum, especially English and Maths
  • Proactive, reliable, adaptable, and a good communicator and team player
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community
  • DBS and two professional references will be required before appointment
