Maths Teacher - SEMH Secondary School

Location: Horsham, West Sussex

Contract: Full-time Permanent

Start Date: ASAP / September 2026

Salary: MPS 2- 6 + SEN Allowance (DOE)

Are you a passionate and resilient Maths Teacher looking to make a genuine difference in a specialist setting?

We are recruiting on behalf of a small, specialist SEMH secondary school in Horsham for a dedicated Secondary SEMH Teacher to teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a nurturing, well-supported environment where class sizes are small and relationships are central to success.

About the School

This is a specialist provision supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers a therapeutic and structured approach to learning, helping students re-engage with education and achieve meaningful qualifications.

The Role - Secondary Maths Teacher (SEMH)
  • Teach Maths across KS3 and KS4
  • Deliver GCSE Mathematics
  • Support students to achieve Functional Skills or BTEC qualifications where appropriate
  • Adapt lessons to meet diverse learning and behavioural needs
  • Work collaboratively with LSAs and pastoral teams
  • Small classes of 8-10 students
  • Strong pastoral and behaviour support systems
  • Focus on personalised learning and positive outcomes
  • Create a safe, engaging and structured learning environment
We Are Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching Maths at secondary level
  • Confidence teaching GCSE Maths (Functional Skills/BTEC desirable)
  • Experience or strong interest in SEMH / SEN / alternative provision
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Resilience, empathy and a trauma-informed approach
