Here at Sheffield Hallam University we are looking for several Independent Assessors to support and undertake the end-point assessment of apprentices on undergraduate apprenticeships in computing.

Sheffield Hallam University currently delivers apprenticeships using the undergraduate Digital and Technology Solutions Professional standard. We are creating a team of Independent Assessors for the following specialisms:

  • Software Engineering.
  • IT Consultant.
  • Data Analyst.

The team of Independent Assessors will assess apprentices' performance in the End-Point Assessment phase of their apprenticeship. Apprentices will be evaluated against the set of Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours that are given in each standard.

The Independent Assessors will evaluate the apprentices' Portfolio of evidence through a Professional Discussion, a presentation given by the apprentice, and a final written report.

The Independent Assessor will provide detailed feedback using appropriate mechanisms and enter assessment outcomes into the appropriate system in line with deadlines. Full training will be given on both the standards and assessment processes, and Independent Assessors will be supported in their work by experienced University staff.

The School of Computing and Digital Technologies is a large and vibrant school engaged in taught programs, research and innovation, and knowledge exchange. All our UG and PG programs are underpinned by project-based learning, which facilitates embedding industry experience across all the programs. The school is home to the multi-disciplinary team that composes the Smart Interactive Technologies lab, which focuses on innovative research and developments investigating all the aspects of modelling and applying physical and intelligent systems, which coexist harmoniously.
