Position: Assessment and Feedback Officer (fixed term)

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead the annual cycle of planning, coordination and effective administrative delivery of all the School’s assessment and feedback practices in accordance with university guidelines and deadlines.
  • Lead delivery of the full assessment and examination process, including the management of marks, feedback release, arrangement of examination materials and application of student support adjustments.
  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of examination boards, including logistical arrangements, preparation of data and documentation, and coordination of External Examiners.
  • Liaise with, and provide expert advice to, students and staff on university policies, processes and procedures related to assessments and feedback.
  • Work in collaboration with academic leads to map and improve assessments across programmes, taking into account the student journey, opportunities for feedback and disciplinary outcomes, and paying particular attention to inclusive practice.
  • Ensure staff and students receive clear information in relation to assessment, leading on communications as required.
  • Undertake analysis, reporting and problem resolution related to assessment and feedback, particularly in response to issues of challenge raised by our students.
  • Work in partnership with the Student Examinations Team to meet deadlines and submit results to central systems.
  • Coordinate, monitor and improve processes surrounding assessment feedback for students, in line with institutional policy.
  • Work with the School’s Director of Education to adhere and enforce assessment and feedback policies and standards across the School.
  • Delegate to, and supervise colleagues in the wider team, as required, in order to ensure effective overall delivery of the role.
  • Support colleagues in the wider Education and Student Experience Team to ensure that the School is able to deliver the full remit of its responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.
  • Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Criteria

Essential
  • Educated to A Level standard with GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent experience).
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to negotiate with colleagues of all levels to deliver effective outcomes.
  • A high level of IT literacy, including extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and Google applications, and the ability to learn new software.
  • The ability to handle, manipulate and interpret large data sets, and to work to the highest degree of accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving.
  • Highly motivated and able to work and make decisions autonomously, with an understanding of when to refer more complex issues to senior colleagues.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner, prioritising effectively to plan for conflicting deadlines, whilst also managing unscheduled tasks.
