Job Title: Attendance Officer – Sheffield

Location: Sheffield (S5)

Salary: £115 – £130 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, long-term / Day-to-day

Start Date: September 2026

A welcoming and supportive school in Sheffield is looking to appoint a reliable and organised Attendance Officer to help promote excellent attendance and student wellbeing across the school community.

About the Role

As an Attendance Officer, you will play an important role in monitoring and improving student attendance across the school. You will work closely with pastoral teams, families and external agencies to identify attendance concerns, maintain accurate records and support students in accessing education consistently.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily student attendance and follow up on absences.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and reports.
  • Communicate with parents and carers regarding attendance concerns.
  • Work closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams to support student wellbeing.
  • Identify patterns of absence and support intervention strategies.
  • Ensure attendance procedures are followed in line with school policies.
  • Liaise with external agencies where appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working within a school or education setting is desirable.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information professionally and confidentially.
  • Proactive and reliable approach to work.
  • Commitment to supporting student wellbeing and engagement in education.
Additional Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • DBS registered to the update service or willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
