Apprentice Teaching Assistant
Location:
High Hazels Nursery Infant School, Sheffield.
Basis:
Full time.
Salary: £13,461 – £21,554.43 (FTE £15,600 – £24,980, depending on age).
Contract:
Term time only (39 weeks), 37.5 hours per week.
Start date:
1 September 2026.

About the roleAs a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will:
- Support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and inclusion, including pupils with SEND.
- Work closely with teachers to deliver learning activities and interventions, developing your own skills.
- Help create a safe, caring and purposeful classroom environment.
- Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence and self‑esteem.
- Support behaviour, routines and positive relationships.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school.
- At least GCSE Grade C in Mathematics and English (or equivalent).
- A genuine interest in working with children supporting their learning and development.
- A positive, patient and caring approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to learn and develop through the apprenticeship programme.
- Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic.
- Structured apprenticeship programme with on‑the‑job training and support to achieve a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification.
