Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)

PK Education are working with a secondary school in Sheffield who are looking to appoint an experienced SENCO for a 1-year maternity cover position starting in September 2026.

This is a well-supported role within a school that places a strong emphasis on inclusion, pastoral care, and ensuring students with additional needs are fully supported both academically and emotionally.

The successful candidate will lead the SEND provision across the school, working closely with senior leadership, pastoral teams, teaching staff, external agencies, and parents to ensure students receive appropriate support and interventions.

The school has an established SEND department already in place, with experienced support staff and clear systems to help ensure a smooth transition into the role.

The Role

Leading and managing SEND provision across the school
Overseeing EHCPs, interventions, and support plans
Supporting staff with strategies and inclusive practice
Working alongside external agencies and parents
Monitoring progress and ensuring statutory requirements are met
Contributing to the wider pastoral and safeguarding structure within school
What We're Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
National SENCO Award (or willingness to work towards it)
Previous SEND leadership or SENCO experience within a secondary setting
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to lead teams and build positive relationships across school
