Job Description

We are delighted to welcome you to Outwood Academy City. We are a team of experts, ambitious for our students and determined in our pursuit of success. Our students are at the heart of everything we do.

What we are looking for: We need an outstanding individual who is enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational to join our Inclusion team as a Specialist Teaching Assistant. The role requires a specialism in working with students across SEND needs and experience delivering small group provisions in English, Maths or Science. Experience leading on Emotional Literacy (ELSA) or Communication and Interaction provision is desirable.

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the Inclusion team and bring energy and creativity to develop and inspire students in learning, life skills and personalised outcomes.

A key focus will be to support student provision and increase students’ ability to access all areas of the curriculum and school life. You will embed and develop Maths, working proactively with the Inclusion team to improve attainment by adopting a personalised approach to planning and delivery of a bespoke curriculum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Take responsibility for a caseload of students inside and outside the classroom during structured or unstructured time.
  • Assess the needs of students and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support their educational progress and attainment, preparing them for adulthood.
  • Deliver intervention programmes to individuals and small groups, preparing relevant learning experiences in conjunction with department staff. Focus areas include emotional literacy and social skills.
  • Track and monitor student life‑skill targets and or EHCP outcomes, discussing progress with parents and agreeing new targets/EHCP outcomes at interim reviews.
