SEND Teacher – Complex Needs (Specialist Provision)

About the Role

Connex Education is seeking enthusiastic, resilient and committed SEND Teachers for a number of specialist school settings in North Somerset to support children and young people with complex needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for teachers who is looking for a new challenge and want to make a genuine, lasting difference to pupils who require a highly personalised approach to learning.

These settings include all-age specialist provisions who support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex needs. Many pupils also have diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD and attachment‑related difficulties, and may present with high anxiety or additional behavioural needs.

We are recruiting for flexible supply, short‑term and long‑term teaching opportunities, offering variety and the chance to work in a highly supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

When in a long term post:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Develop and implement personalised learning programmes in line with EHCP targets
  • Track, assess, and report on pupil progress effectively
  • Support pupils with non‑verbal or pre‑verbal communication needs
  • Create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Use positive and consistent behaviour support strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider school teams
  • Support pupils with high anxiety and complex behavioural needs
  • Encourage pupils to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) required
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, SLD, ASC, ADHD, or attachment needs
  • Ability to deliver engaging and motivating lessons
  • Experience with personalised learning and progress tracking
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, resilient, and adaptable approach
  • Passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Connex Education
  • Right to work in the UK
