Full-time Salary: £15 per hour (dependent on experience) About the Role Reed Education is seeking a committed and skilled Elective Home Education (EHE) Caseworker to join a dedicated Children’s Services team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in supporting home-educating families while ensuring children receive a suitable, efficient, and full-time education in line with statutory requirements. You will manage your own caseload, working directly with families, partners, and professionals to assess educational provision, promote positive outcomes, and safeguard children and young people.
Key Responsibilities Caseload Management:
Take responsibility for a designated caseload of Elective Home Education children, acting as the primary contact for parents and carers. Education Assessment:
Review educational plans, learning materials, and progress reports to evaluate the suitability of provision. Home Visits & Monitoring:
Conduct home visits and engage with children and families to assess the educational environment and verify provision. Safeguarding:
Remain alert to safeguarding and welfare concerns, escalating issues appropriately in line with Children’s Services procedures. Support & Guidance:
Provide clear advice and signposting to families, supporting them in meeting their legal responsibilities for home education. Multi-Agency
Collaboration:
Work closely with schools, attendance teams, health professionals, and other agencies to share information and promote positive outcomes. About You We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced:
Proven experience working with children, young people, and families within education, social care, or a local authority setting. Knowledgeable: A strong understanding of Elective Home Education, relevant education legislation, and school registration processes. A Skilled Communicator:
Able to build positive relationships and handle sensitive discussions with professionalism, empathy, and diplomacy. Analytical & Solution-Focused:
Capable of assessing complex situations, identifying gaps in education provision, and recommending practical improvements. Safeguarding-Focused:
Fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Requirements Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential) All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
