Overview

The University of Sheffield’s new MSc in Business Analytics degree launches in September 2026 and we are seeking an additional team member to join us as we deliver this innovative programme, as well as our existing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Role Summary

In this role, you will specifically contribute to the development and delivery of our business analytics teaching within our integrated undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. You will be contributing to modules involving mathematical modelling, data visualisation, programming (Python) and database management. As part of the Operations Management and Decision Sciences (OMDS) subject group, you will be a key member of the curriculum design team, working with colleagues from all OMDS themes.

You will also develop your administrative experience through taking a key course level role such as Module Leader.

Candidates for this post should have experience of delivering business analytics teaching, including through lectures, workshops and seminars, in a Higher Education setting. Candidates should also show a commitment to developing their national and/or international profile in marketing education.

A commitment to fresh thinking, flexibility and adaptability in approach is essential to this role.

Based in the Sheffield University Management School (), you will join a vibrant community of teachers and researchers building the discipline of Operations Management and Business Analytics.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver business analytics teaching within the School’s taught programmes, ensuring accessibility, inclusivity and alignment with the University’s Education Strategy Delivery Plan.
  • Improve and enhance the student experience and outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
  • Behave ethically and act as a role‑model for students.
  • Undertake scholarship activities in business analytics education that positively impact student outcomes and are influential at a national or international level.
  • Engage in recruitment and outreach activities, including participation in Open Days.
  • Support core administrative areas to deliver the OMDS programmes, such as student advising and mentoring.
  • Provide effective line management when required.
  • Represent the institution with external stakeholders to foster collaboration at a regional or national level.
  • Work according to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through inclusive, collaborative working.
  • Contribute to the principles of the ‘Sheffield Academic’, including excellence in applied teaching and research.
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Criteria
  • A PhD (or equivalent relevant experience) in a relevant subject.
  • Experience of teaching business analytics, or an associated discipline, in a Higher Education environment.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., FHEA, PGCert Higher Education) or evidence of working towards one.
  • Experience of working and communicating with a team of staff.
  • Experience of developing strong working relationships with partners within and external to Higher Education.
  • Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving.
  • Experience of working independently on project activities.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and proficient IT skills.
Salary and Benefits

Salary: £48,822 - £58,2225
