English Teaching Role in a High-Performing Secondary School A
high-performing secondary school in Sheffield is seeking to appoint
an English Teacher to join its department from September. This is a
full-time role within an ambitious and supportive school that
places strong emphasis on literacy, academic achievement, and
high-quality teaching. English is a highly valued subject within
the school, with students developing confidence in reading,
writing, analysis, and spoken communication across all key stages.
About the Role You will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage
4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons in both English
Language and English Literature. Students will study a broad range
of texts including prose, poetry, drama, and non-fiction while
developing analytical thinking, extended writing, and communication
skills. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English
examinations, supporting them in building confidence with
interpretation, academic writing, and exam technique. You will work
collaboratively within a successful English department to maintain
high standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities Teach
English across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver lessons in English
Language and Literature Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level
examinations Assess student work and provide clear, constructive
feedback Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support literacy and enrichment initiatives across the school
Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and engagement The

Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience teaching
English at secondary level Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature Strong
classroom management and communication skills

Desirable Experience
teaching A-Level English Experience preparing students for GCSE and
A-Level examinations Ability to contribute to literacy or
enrichment programmes
