Overview

Sheffield University Management School is seeking an experienced University Teacher in Work Psychology, to support delivery of our postgraduate and undergraduate taught programmes.

In this role, you will specifically contribute to the development and delivery of our Work Psychology teaching and assessment, on a range of modules within our integrated undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum (e.g. MSc Business and Organisational Psychology; MSc Human Resource Management; BA (Hons) Business Management). You will be a key member of the team, working with colleagues across a range of teaching areas in Work Psychology, and related Organisational Behaviour and HRM areas.

Indicative modules to which you may contribute are in areas including leadership, wellbeing, professional development, training, research methods.

Candidates for this post should have experience of delivering work psychology teaching, through lectures, workshops and seminars, in a Higher Education setting. Candidates should also show a commitment to developing their national and/or international profile in Work Psychology education. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with Psychometric Test User qualifications (Occupational Ability and Personality) and who are qualified to teach psychometrics via SHL’s Accredited trainer Programme (ATP).

A commitment to fresh thinking, flexibility and adaptability in approach are more essential to this role.

Based in the Sheffield University Management School (  ), you will join a vibrant community of teachers and researchers building the discipline of Management.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Working with the Work Psychology (WP) Subject Group, develop and deliver work psychology (and organisational behaviour/ HRM) teaching and assessment within the School’s taught programmes, ensuring that it is accessible, inclusive and contributes to the University’s Teaching and Learning Strategy.
  • Improve and enhance the student experience and student outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
  • Behave ethically in all aspects of your role and act as a role‑model for our students
  • Undertake scholarship activities in Work Psychology, appropriate to the role, that have a positive impact on student outcomes and are influential on a national / international level
  • Engage in recruitment and outreach activities which may include activities outside standard working hours, for example Open Days.
  • Engage in core administrative areas to support the delivery of the Work Psychology (and HRM/ Business Management) programmes e.g. student advising and mentoring.
  • Provide effective line management where required.
  • Represent the institution with external stakeholders (within and outside the profession) to foster collaboration, at a regional or national level as required
  • Work according to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks including Professional Regulatory bodies e.g. BPS; CIPD.
  • Actively contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through individual action and inclusive, collaborative working.
  • Make a full and active contribution to the principles of the ‘Sheffield Academic’. These include the achievement of excellence in applied teaching and research, and scholarly pursuits to make a genuine difference in the subject area and to the University’s achievements as a whole.
