Overview
As University Teacher you will play a key role in contributing to, and maintaining, the School’s portfolio of high‑quality, research‑led teaching. You will be expected to provide face‑to‑face and remote lectures and seminars to campus‑based and distance‑learning students, and to produce and mark assessments on core and optional modules across our Librarianship and Library and Information Services Management (LISM) MA programmes, including:
- Management for Library and Information Services;
Information Organisation;
Leadership Strategy and Change;
Academic and Workplace Library, Information and Knowledge Services;
Libraries, Information and Society; and Personal and Professional Development - You will also carry out supervision of Masters dissertation projects.
- Design, deliver, assess, and evaluate campus‑based and distance‑learning teaching on Librarianship and LISM programmes, including identifying learning objectives, selecting appropriate curricula and teaching methods.
- Prepare and implement student assessments, including designing assessment criteria, marking and ensuring adequate moderation.
- Undertake academic tutor and pastoral responsibilities for postgraduate students.
- Carry out module and course evaluation, facilitate student feedback, reflect on own teaching design and delivery, and implement ideas for improvement.
- Conduct personal scholarship: identify literature, update own knowledge, assess literature validity and contribution to the field and practice.
- Contribute to the operations of the School, Faculty and wider University community through administrative responsibilities and committee memberships as appropriate.
- Ensure digital accessibility of teaching materials.
- Encourage ethical decisions and embed the University’s Sustainability strategy wherever possible.
- Carry out other duties as reasonable with the grade and remit of the post.

CriteriaEssential (applicant)
- Industry‑related experience and expertise in a relevant field, or a PhD in a relevant subject area (or working towards a PhD).
- Ability to design and deliver high‑quality, research‑led teaching programmes.
- Ability to design and deliver high‑quality, innovative assessment, to assess students and provide effective feedback.
- Experience of critically reviewing and assessing teaching programmes and own teaching practice with evidence of positive change/impact.
- Knowledge and experience of technologies to support learning and teaching.
- Ability to organise resources, plan and progress work activities, analyse and solve problems with awareness of longer‑term implications.
Desirable (applicant)
- Experience of supervising undergraduate or postgraduate students.
- Experience of pastoral and academic support.
- Ability to lead teaching and collaborate effectively with others.
- Grade: 8
- Salary: £48,822 – £58,225
- Work arrangement:
Full‑time (Hybrid) - Duration: 01/09/2026 – 31/08/2028
