Overview

Sheffield University Management School is seeking an experienced University Teacher in Work, Employment and Organisations to support delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. The role involves developing and delivering teaching and assessment across modules such as MSc Human Resource Management and BA (Hons) Business Management, and working collaboratively with colleagues from work and employment studies, organisational behaviour and industrial relations.

The position is full time and based in the Sheffield University Management School. Candidates should bring experience of higher education teaching through lectures, workshops and seminars, and a commitment to building an international profile in the field.

• Working with the WEO Subject Group to develop and deliver accessible and inclusive teaching in the School’s programmes.
• Improving and enhancing the student experience and outcomes through programme delivery responsive to student needs.
• Behaving ethically and acting as a role‑model for students.
• Undertaking scholarship activities in education that positively impact student outcomes and have influence at a national or international level.
• Engaging in recruitment and outreach activities, including events outside standard working hours.
• Supporting core administrative tasks such as student advising and mentoring.
• Representing the institution with external stakeholders to foster collaboration at regional or national level.
• Working in accordance with university quality assurance processes and professional regulatory bodies such as CIPD.
• Actively contributing to the collective values of the University through inclusive and collaborative work.
• Carrying out other duties commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Essential

• PhD or equivalent relevant experience in Work, Employment and Organisations or an associated discipline.
• Experience of teaching in higher education at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
• Teaching or training qualification such as FHEA, PGCert Higher Education, or evidence of working towards one.
• Experience of teamwork and clear communication with staff.
• Experience of developing relationships with partners within and outside higher education.
• Creative problem‑solving ability.
• Experience of working independently on project activities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and good IT competency.

Desirable

• Additional relevant discipline experience or qualifications not already mentioned.
• Any further achievements that support the role.

Grade: 8
Salary: £48,822 – £58,222
