SEND Teaching Assistant | Flexible Supply, Long-Term & Permanent Roles | Sheffield | Weekly PAYE

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll provide individualised support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes both in and outside the classroom.

Depending on the setting, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Working closely with teachers and wider school staff to support pupils’ learning and development
  • Promoting pupils’ independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing
  • Following individual support plans and behaviour strategies in line with school policies

    Encouraging participation in lessons, interventions and enrichment activities
  • Building positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
