Specialised Subject Tutor

Teach the Subject You Know Best

We're looking for Specialised Subject Tutors to support children and young people across West Sussex through personalised 1:1 tuition.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll use your subject expertise to help learners who require alternative educational provision. We welcome applications from tutors and education professionals with experience in any curriculum subject, including English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Languages, Computing, Business Studies, Art, Music, Design Technology, Psychology, and more.

Many of the students we support have experienced barriers to learning and benefit from tailored educational support that helps them rebuild confidence, re-engage with education, and achieve positive outcomes.

We're particularly interested in candidates able to support learners in:

  • Crawley
  • Worthing
  • Horsham
  • Chichester
  • Bognor Regis
  • Littlehampton

Flexible

Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
  • Strong knowledge of your specialist subject
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised sessions
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and learner-focused approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within West Sussex

You'll work with children and young people of varying ages who may have:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety and school avoidance
  • EHCPs and additional educational needs

    Each learner has different strengths, interests, and goals, giving you the opportunity to tailor your teaching and make a meaningful impact.
