Overview Of

The Role

We have a strong track record in providing flood risk services to our clients. Our teams of experts have modelled, designed, and delivered flood resilience schemes around the world and worked on award‑winning schemes such as the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme and the Avonmouth & Severnside Economic Area Ecological Mitigation and Flood Defence Project. We deliver Flood Risk Assessments for new developments and are industry leading in providing Nature‑Based Solutions for flood risk management.

Examples

of Your Contributions
  • Undertake and check economic appraisals to assist the design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments and conduct reservoir flood studies.
  • Prepare business cases to secure funding for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Grants.
  • Conceptualise and scope hydraulic modelling approaches.
  • Produce and check high‑quality reports for clients.
  • Mentor and train junior staff in the overall process of helping clients manage and adapt to flooding, from scoping to delivery, and identify opportunities and risks in programme, consenting, construction, and maintenance.
Candidate Specification Essential
  • Experience delivering flood risk management studies, including undertaking option appraisals in compliance with English Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Appraisal Guidance.
  • Experience preparing business cases.
  • Degree‑level qualification in hydrology, geography, economics, mathematics, civil engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Good communication and written skills.
  • Well‑organised and able to prioritise your own workload with minimal supervision.
  • Understand the importance of prioritising health, safety and environmental issues.
Desirable
  • Chartered or Incorporated with an appropriate professional body (e.g. ICE, CIWEM, IMA).
  • Project management experience.
  • Engineering design experience.
  • Professional consultancy experience in flood risk management.
