Elevation Recruitment Group are working exclusively with a South Yorkshire engineering business, specialising in bespoke, high-quality manufacturing solutions and tooling.
This is a key technical role within a growing Product Team, taking ownership of product design from early concept through to production release. You'll act as the technical authority on assigned product lines, translating market insight and customer requirements into robust, manufacturable designs.
The role has a strong balance of hands-on engineering and cross-functional collaboration, with real influence over product quality, performance, cost and compliance. If you enjoy seeing your designs make it to market, this one's for you.
Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the end-to-end technical design of products, from concept through to production
Carry out competitor benchmarking and market research to inform design decisions
Produce and approve engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, laser marking drawings and technical specifications
Define and control design intent, tolerances, materials and finishes to ensure performance and manufacturability
Lead and support prototype builds, testing, validation and iterative design improvements
Provide technical leadership and problem-solving support, driving root cause resolution
Work closely with marketing, sales, suppliers, supply chain and quality to balance customer need, cost and delivery
Review and improve existing products, identifying opportunities for performance improvement, cost reduction and standardisation
Maintain accurate CAD models and technical documentation with full version control
Lead and participate in design reviews, including DFM and tooling reviews
Support quality teams by defining inspection criteria, tolerances and test requirements
Feed industry trends, materials and process insights into product roadmaps
Contribute to continuous improvement across design tools, processes and workflows
Occasional international travel to suppliers
Ensure all work meets internal policies, health & safety and regulatory standards
Degree (or equivalent) in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
Strong 2D CAD experience
Experience with rendering tools such as Visualise or Key Shot
Ability to produce full manufacturing documentation
Solid understanding of injection moulding, machining or castings
Strong grasp of engineering standards, tolerances and design for manufacture
Demonstrable experience taking products from concept into production
Confident communicator, able to influence across departments
