The RoleThe Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Fabrication, Production Engineering organization in Sheffield, UK is seeking an experienced Product Review Engineer (Liaison Engineer) to support with non-conformance review and disposition of commodities produced on-site (primarily machined components). After comprehensive classroom and on-the-job training (in UK and the USA) to obtain the required authority, the successful candidate will apply basic knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production.
This job role is similar to: MRB Engineer, Non-Conformance-Authority (NCA) Engineer or Concession Engineer.
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) nonconformance conditions.
- Analyses, conducts root cause analysis and develops dispositions for design deviations, such as Non-conformance Records (NCRs) or Quality Notifications (QNs).
- Applies knowledge of Boeing design principles to assess and resolve product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
- Applies engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer and designs interim and final engineering solutions.
- Identifies documents, analyses reported problems and communicates deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommends and manages resolution.
- Supports Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participates in design reviews.
- Represents the engineering community in the build through post-production environment.
- Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards.
- Develop and implement product/process improvements.
- Accredited bachelor's degree in the disciplines of Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science/Engineering.
- Experience in aerospace design or manufacturing.
- Ability to use 3D CAD packages, such as CATIA V5.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Have led or contributed to technical improvement projects.
- Experience working with machined steel detail parts and assemblies.
- Knowledge of mechanical transmissions and related components (i.e. bearings, gears, shafts, splines).
- Knowledge and experience working with ASME Y14.5.
- Demonstrated skills in engineering design and/or stress analysis.
- Experience in aerospace material and/or associated heat treatments.
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor), and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
- ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in design and production of aerospace components; experience working with American engineering standards; and be a strong communicator with experience working across international teams.
