AboutThe Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineer to join our Environment & Preventative team at Leicestershire County Council. The successful applicant will join a motivated, friendly team of professionals assisting the Environment and Preventative Manager. They will be responsible for the efficient planning and project management of environmental and preventative maintenance or construction works to achieve delivery within time and cost targets and ensure compliance with specifications and quality management systems.
Areas of work include Surface Dressing, Road Markings, Joint Sealing, Traffic Signs Maintenance and Environmental works.

The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base.
About YouTo apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:
- An HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification) it would be ideal if you held IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualification and a Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent) OR you have equivalent demonstrable work experience of flooding and highway drainage development management.
- Significant experience of operational project or work programme management and reporting.
- Experience of providing professional, commercial advice and support to managers and supervisors as required and of developing and presenting project reports to peer groups and financial heads of department.
- Comprehensive or significant experience in management of highways related projects, design development, specification and procurement, and contractual procedures.
- Experience of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice and of engaging with suppliers, including attending and producing materials for meetings and Interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice.
- Knowledge of current legislation, policies and procedures;
Highways Act, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act, Traffic Regulation Act, CDM etc., of technical competencies, principles of good project management; EG: PRINCE2 and of relevant technical guidance and standards; DMRB, 6
Cs, Manual for Streets etc. - Excellent communication and presentation skills including the ability to shape and influence to achieve successful outcomes and to continue to build on the credibility of the Council and its services and have a methodical approach, with attention to detail.
