Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide-ranging. You'll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives. Exceptional careers that bring world-renowned vehicles to life start here.
Join JLR at a pivotal moment as we continue shaping the future of assisted and automated driving. We’re looking for an Automotive Hardware & Software Instrumentation Measurement Engineer to play a key role in developing and deploying the tools that make next‑generation ADAS and automated driving features possible. If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working hands‑on with prototype vehicles and turning ideas into real, road‑ready systems, this is a role where your work truly makes an impact.
You’ll be part of our Measurement Techniques & Data Processing team – the group behind the hardware, software and data systems that enable testing, verification and validation across AAD and ADAS programmes. From vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition to test system integration and tooling development, the team sits at the heart of how we evaluate and advance cutting‑edge driving technologies.
Working within a technical design and delivery environment, you’ll help create and integrate new electronic hardware and software solutions, support vehicle builds across multiple platforms and act as a key interface between engineering partners and development teams. It’s an exciting opportunity to work with early‑stage technology, contribute to fast‑moving projects and help define the tools that will support JLR’s future vehicles.

This is a hands-on position with plenty of scope to make an impact. Key responsibilities will include –
- Support the design, development and build of vehicle measurement systems for AAD verification and validation
- Install and integrate measurement systems into prototype vehicles, ensuring safe, reliable and repeatable setups
- Capture and translate technical requirements into effective solutions, driving continuous improvement from user feedback
- Maintain, update and enhance existing measurement system installations to keep them robust and up to date
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software and integration issues efficiently across multiple vehicle platforms
- Contribute to software tool testing and validation, providing clear and structured feedback to development teams
- Produce high‑quality technical documentation, user guides and training materials, working collaboratively within an agile squad
We’re looking for someone with the right blend of experience, qualifications, and practical skills, including –
- Proven experience integrating hardware and software systems into vehicles or automotive test environments, with strong theoretical and practical knowledge of automotive communication networks
- Significant hands‑on electrical and mechanical build experience, including harnesses, brackets and component installation, supported by a solid understanding of core engineering principles
- Skilled in using Vector tools such as CANoe and CANape for network analysis and measurement activities
- Competent in CAD, specifically CATIA, for designing, packaging and manufacturing fixtures, rigs and supporting components
- Confident using command‑line tools and experienced in writing and debugging scripts in Shell, Python and/or Power Shell, ideally within a Linux environment
- Able to work effectively to integration and build timing plans while collaborating as part of a wider engineering team, supported by strong verbal and written communication skills
- Holds a relevant engineering degree (e.g. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) and a full UK driving licence
