Senior Civil Design Engineer

The successful candidate will take ownership of the civil and structural design function, working closely with Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, and clients across a range of high voltage (HV) projects.

• Leading civil/structural design delivery on HV projects (substations, foundations, cable routes, drainage, access roads, structures, reinforced concrete, steel structures)
• Managing, mentoring, and developing a small team of design engineers and engineering technicians
• Checking and approving civil/structural designs, calculations, and drawings
• Providing technical guidance and leadership across multiple projects
• Supporting tendering, project planning, and client engagement
• Helping shape civil design standards and processes within the business

My client is keen to speak with experienced Civil Engineers / Structural Engineers who are comfortable combining technical delivery with team leadership, with:

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or equivalent
• Strong civil design experience within power, utilities, or wider infrastructure
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers (formal management experience is beneficial but not essential)
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership (ICE or similar)
• Good communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused mindset
• BIM experience (desirable)
• High voltage or substation experience would be ideal, but strong transferable infrastructure experience will also be considered.
