A growing design consultancy in South Yorkshire is seeking a Technical Director to support its ambitious expansion plans. This is a key strategic role with genuine scope for fast progression as the business scales.

• Lead the technical function within a specialist design‑focused environment
• Oversee engineering standards, technical governance, and project delivery
• Drive innovation, best‑practice design processes, and continuous improvement
• Work closely with senior leadership to support rapid business growth
• Shape the technical direction, future investment, and long‑term strategy
• Mentor and develop engineering and design teams to build capability

• Ensure high‑quality technical output across all design and engineering projects
• Provide technical leadership and decision‑making across the consultancy
• Implement and refine processes to improve efficiency and delivery performance
• Support client engagement from a technical standpoint when required
• Identify opportunities for innovation, new services, and technical development
• Contribute to the wider growth plan and organisational structure

• Strong technical background within engineering and design consultancy
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence at all levels
• Strategic thinker with the ability to remain hands‑on when needed
• Experience driving technical standards, processes, and continuous improvement
• Ambitious individual who wants to grow with the business and progress quickly
• Strong communication skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
