About the Opportunity
Amentum is a key delivery partner within the Decommissioning and Nuclear Waste Partners (DNWP) Framework, a major Sellafield programme worth up to £4.6billion and running for up to 15 years. The framework is focused on safely accelerating decommissioning, remediation and high hazard risk reduction across one of the most complex nuclear sites in the world.
Our nuclear team supports the front end design, engineering, technical leadership and delivery expertise required across the DNWP portfolio. We are looking for individuals with high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors who can work collaboratively, embrace new challenges and contribute to the mission of safely and efficiently delivering Sellafield’s decommissioning and nuclear waste objectives.
You'll provide Quantity Surveying support across nuclear decommissioning projects, contributing to effective cost management, contract administration, and commercial controls. The role supports the safe, compliant, and cost effective delivery of complex decommissioning programmes under supervision and established governance arrangements.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support Senior Quantity Surveyor and programme leads in the implementation of Contract Management Plans and in maintaining effective working relationships with the Client, Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers, and Service Providers for assigned contracts. This will include assisting with the upkeep of contract Risk Registers, attending risk reduction and project meetings, and supporting the administration of Early Warning Notices, Compensation Events, and CEMAR records.
All contracts will be administered in accordance with the Amentum Management System and contract management procedures. You will work within defined processes to help ensure compliance with contractual terms and procedures. Key responsibilities will be:
- Support subcontract engagement and commercial communications.
- Assist with cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting activities across decommissioning projects.
- Support contract administration (e.g., NEC3/4), including change control, payment assessments, and final account preparation.
- Contribute to procurement and tendering activities by providing accurate cost and commercial information.
- Assist in monitoring and reporting of project financial performance, highlighting risks and opportunities to the commercial team.
- Support compliance with regulatory and governance requirements, including NDA and ONR frameworks.
- Work collaboratively with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to support commercial alignment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities and lessons learned in cost and contract management.
- Working towards a Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience in commercial /contract management
- Membership of/commitment to or studying for Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) qualifications or other relevant equivalent professional qualification
- Previous QS experience, where knowledge of engineering was a key attribute
- Worked within a highly regulated and quality assured system where design and engineering was a major part of the role
- Awareness of laws, regulations, processes and procedures appropriate to the area supported
- Knowledge of NEC3 and NEC 4 contracts and public sector procurement regulations
- Experience in cost management, contract administration, and commercial reporting
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Must be proficient in MS Office applications – especially MS Excel.
