Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Tactical Asset Planner to join the Integrated Catchment Management team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

What we do!

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Asset Management are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Our team was established in August 2025 to help Yorkshire Water identify, prioritise and address regulatory risks across the business. Since then, we've evolved into a data‑led function that supports strong asset management by ensuring the right risks are clearly understood, effectively prioritised and reflected within our systems and plans.

We play a key role in shaping investment decisions, using robust analysis to support regulatory reporting and long-term planning. Our work helps ensure the wastewater network remains resilient in the face of challenges such as asset deterioration, climate change, urban growth and increasing customer demand, while protecting the environment and meeting regulatory expectations.

Working at the heart of asset planning, we collaborate with teams across Yorkshire Water and beyond to develop practical, cost-effective solutions that deliver value for customers, communities and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of robust, assured methodologies to assess wastewater asset and catchment risks.
  • Analyse complex datasets (including telemetry and possibly hydraulic models) to identify root causes and assess impacts at site and catchment level.
  • Actively contribute to tactical and strategic planning strategies with sound technical knowledge.
  • Identify and develop cost‑effective solutions that ensure compliance, align with risk appetite, and support business case development.
  • Produce and assure high‑quality regulatory outputs, including Undertaking reports and supporting data.
  • Support the development of insights accessible through clear reporting and interactive platforms such as GIS and data visualisation tools.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, partners and external stakeholders to identify shared risks and deliver integrated catchment solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter…
