Research Associate: Fail-Safe Detection in Rotating Systems

The University of Sheffield is seeking a Research Associate to develop and verify high-reliability detection systems for mechanical bearing failures in next-generation aviation electrical generators. This role, part of an 18-month project, will directly involve collaborating with Rolls-Royce, utilizing mechanical engineering expertise to create robust detection algorithms and experimental designs.

Applicants should have a mechanical engineering undergraduate degree and ideally a PhD. The role requires the ability to work cooperatively and includes responsibility for designing experiments and writing reports.
