Project Manager – Wastewater Treatment Projects

As Project Manager, you will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary engineering team to bring water and wastewater infrastructure projects from design through to construction, commissioning and handover to the client.

You will lead all areas of Civil, Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) Engineering scope on the project, or on a series of smaller projects, and be involved in all day‑to‑day aspects of delivery including programme management, commercial management and HSQE development and awareness.

Your role will be key in supporting the Contracts Manager to achieve project outcomes. You will have the opportunity to witness a wide variety of multi‑disciplinary engineering activities and develop a specialised knowledge base to progress your career.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any time, embracing a “one‑team” culture.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on‑site.
  • Instil a positive Health and Safety culture within the team in their thinking and actions.
  • Collaborate with all key stakeholders including clients, client representatives and third‑party agencies.
  • Lead and co‑ordinate the multi‑discipline civil, MEICA and process team to deliver the project on‑time, on‑budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • Facilitate the coordination role of the PSDP for live projects with internal and external designers, representing the company as PSCS on sites and ensuring documentation is current.
  • Conduct Health and Safety inspections and lead toolbox talks and white‑board meetings.
  • Use best‑practice project management techniques such as Lean Construction and the Last Planner.
  • Monitor project performance, including risk and opportunities, and mitigate or reduce risk where possible.
  • Report monthly performance to the framework manager, covering programme, budget and HSQE metrics.
  • Lead procurement of supplies and sub‑contracts on time and within budget.
  • Manage cashflow and work with Contracts / Commercial Managers to ensure interim payment applications are submitted on time to the client.
  • Build and promote industry‑leading teams by training, mentoring staff and setting development plans.
  • Assist with tendering opportunities for new projects and provide guidance from time to time.
  • Respond to client and stakeholder complaints promptly and use satisfaction surveys to improve service.
  • Seek to improve project delivery through lessons learned and innovative solutions.
  • Keep appraised of latest standards and technology through continuous professional development.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
  • Experience managing Civil and MEICA engineering works such as concrete, pipe laying, mechanical and electrical installation packages.
  • Ability to work under pressure to deliver project objectives.
  • Skilled in engaging customers, suppliers and sub‑contractors in financial negotiations and final account agreements.
  • Good working knowledge of programme management software such as Microsoft Project, including baseline programme preparation and updates.
  • Strong initiative, problem‑solving ability and self‑adjustment during project delivery.
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Strong communication skills and high level of motivation.
  • Full driving licence.
