Job Description & How to Apply Below

Beach Baker is delighted to be partnering with Bourne Valley Associates, an established and highly regarded planning and design consultancy, to recruit a Town Planner for their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner who enjoys working on diverse projects and wants greater exposure to rural, agricultural and countryside developments. Bourne Valley Associates has built a strong reputation for delivering planning and design services across the agricultural, industrial, renewable energy and residential sectors throughout the South of England and Wales.

With a substantial rural client base, the business plays a key role in supporting farm diversification projects, agricultural infrastructure, Class Q conversions, renewable energy developments and a wide range of commercial and residential schemes.

As part of a close-knit and experienced team, you'll benefit from genuine responsibility, direct client contact and the opportunity to work on projects from conception through to approval.

The Role

You will be involved in:

  • Document writing, preparing planning statements.
  • Preparing, submitting and managing planning applications.
  • Providing planning advice to a varied client base.
  • Attending pre-application meetings with local authorities.
  • Undertaking site visits across the region.
  • Building relationships with clients, planning officers and external consultants.
  • Supporting a diverse portfolio of rural, agricultural, residential and commercial projects.
  • Representing clients throughout the planning process.
About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • A Planning degree or RTPI-accredited qualification.
  • MRTPI status or are working towards chartership.
  • At least two years' planning experience gained in either the public or private sector.
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills.
  • Confidence managing client relationships.
  • A genuine interest in rural and agricultural planning.

Experience of agricultural development, farm diversification, rural estates or renewable energy projects would be particularly attractive, although not essential.

Why Apply?

This position offers something increasingly rare in the planning sector: the opportunity to work on a varied and interesting mix of projects that have a tangible impact on rural communities and businesses.

In return, Bourne Valley Associates offers:

  • Competitive salary up to £45,000 depending on experience.
  • Exposure to a broad range of planning projects.
  • Support for professional development and career progression.
  • A friendly, collaborative working environment.
  • The chance to join a respected independent consultancy with an established reputation across the South of England
