Sheffield Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 circa Depending on experience Our client is a well-established engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of specialist bar, cable and welded systems for structural and engineering applications. Due to continued development, they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their existing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong design and engineering background to take responsibility for mechanical design, calculations and technical documentation, while working closely with engineering, project, quality and site teams.

• Produce and review mechanical designs and technical drawings for assemblies used within structural and engineering applications.
• Create, modify and review 3D CAD models, assemblies and technical drawings using a CAD platform, ideally Solid Works or Solid Edge.
• Carry out fundamental engineering calculations covering stresses, shear, bending, bearing and combined loading.
• Assess load paths and identify critical sections and stress areas to ensure designs meet strength requirements and relevant client specifications.
• Support the Site Services team with on-site installation and tensioning activities associated with specialist bar systems.
• Prepare technical documentation packages for customers, agents, distributors and auditors, including test reports, compliance statements, warranty documentation and certificates of origin.
• Work closely with engineering, project, quality and site teams to establish testing protocols, cable specifications and welding requirements.

• Engineering bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
• Candidates with an HND/HNC in Engineering and relevant industry experience will also be considered.
• Demonstrable experience using 3D CAD software, ideally Solid Works.
• Ability to produce, read and modify 3D models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering calculations.
• Practical engineering approach with the ability and willingness to work on site when required, supporting installation and tensioning activities.
• Knowledge of weld design and experience coordinating welding activities would be advantageous.

• Salary £35,000 - £38,000 circa - depending on experience
• Monday to Friday - 35 hour working week
