The energy sector is evolving rapidly, and we're looking for an Energy Consultant (Electrical) to help deliver the infrastructure and power systems that will support the transition to a low-carbon future.
Whether your experience comes from consultancy, utilities, renewables, DNOs, energy developers, or a related sector, this is an opportunity to work on some of the UK's most exciting energy and decarbonisation projects while building your expertise in electrical power systems and grid infrastructure.
Based in either our Manchester or Sheffield office, you'll join a collaborative multidisciplinary team working across a diverse portfolio of projects, including:
- Solar PV and battery energy storage systems.
- Hydrogen and alternative fuel projects.
- Energy recovery facilities.
- Campus-wide energy infrastructure programmes.
- Grid connection and network integration studies.
- Electrification of heat and transport
The Opportunity
As part of our growing Energy team, you'll support the development of electrical infrastructure and power systems solutions, with a particular focus on grid integration and the electrification of energy systems.
Your responsibilities will include supporting technical analysis and modelling of electrical power systems. Assisting with feasibility studies and early-stage infrastructure design and contributing to HV grid connection studies and network assessments.
You will be required to develop technical reports, calculations, and engineering deliverables. Supporting the design and assessment of electrical infrastructure solutions. Working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative low-carbon energy projects. As well as helping clients understand the electrical requirements of renewable generation, energy storage, and decarbonisation strategies.
Is this role right for you?
We're looking for individuals with a strong foundation in electrical engineering, who are keen to develop their expertise within the energy sector.
You will ideally have:
An MEng (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Power Systems.
Strong fundamentals in:
Power Systems, Electrical Distribution Networks and Electrical Infrastructure Design.
An understanding, through academic study or practical experience, of:
Power systems and network studies, Grid connection processes, Grid capacity and network constraints and working with DNOs and TSOs.
An interest in the energy transition, renewable energy, electrification, and low-carbon infrastructure.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
A desire to work towards Chartered Engineer status and professional membership (e.g. IET).
