About the role
Lead the environmental sustainability approach for the Doncaster Triangle programme from bid and pre-construction through mobilisation and project delivery.

Provide strategic leadership across the bundled schemes, ensuring environmental risks, consenting requirements, client commitments and sustainability opportunities are identified early and integrated into design, programme, cost and construction planning. Maintain continuity and ownership as the role transitions from the ES Bid & Pre-construction Team into site-based delivery

Work under the direction of the Senior Environmental Sustainability Advisor, contributing to continuous improvement, identifying trends across bids, and supporting the wider team in delivering best practice in pre-contract environmental management.
What you'll be doing
Provide environmental sustainability leadership across projects and programmes.

Work collaboratively with work-winning, estimating, planning, design and project teams to influence project outcomes and embed environmental sustainability considerations from the earliest stages of project development.

Lead or support environmental input into bids, tenders and pre-construction activities, ensuring environmental risks, constraints, opportunities and client requirements are identified and integrated into project strategies.

Ensure environmental commitments, assumptions and obligations established during bid and pre-construction are effectively transferred into project mobilisation and delivery.

Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licences, planning conditions, client requirements and company standards.

Identify, manage and mitigate environmental risks, constraints and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.

Develop and implement environmental management plans, sustainability plans and associated project documentation.

Advise project teams, designers and senior leaders on environmental and sustainability matters.

Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, regulators, supply chain partners and other stakeholders.

Lead or support environmental input into bids, tenders and pre-construction activities.
Who we're looking for
Essential:

Proven ability to lead environmental sustainability activity on complex infrastructure, engineering or construction projects.

Ability to influence design, programme, commercial and operational decisions at bid, pre-construction or delivery stage.

Strong working knowledge of UK environmental legislation, environmental management and regulatory requirements.

Experience identifying and managing environmental risks, opportunities, commitments and programme dependencies.

Experience coordinating multidisciplinary specialists and environmental supply-chain support.

Ability to work confidently with clients, regulators, senior leaders, designers, planners, estimators, commercial teams and construction colleagues.

Strong written communication, including the ability to develop and review tender responses, environmental plans, governance papers and management reports.

Ability to lead through influence in a complex programme or matrix environment.

Practitioner membership of IEMA/ISEP, or an equivalent professional body, or evidence of working towards an appropriate professional level.

Ability to travel regularly between offices and project locations and to transition into a site-based role as the programme moves into delivery.
