Your new company You'll join a large, well-known higher education organisation in Sheffield. Its in-house Engineering & Maintenance team delivers planned and reactive works across a big campus with a varied building stock. They work closely with internal departments and outside partners to provide a high standard of service. Your new role As Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, you'll directly line manage the mechanical maintenance team for one of the campus zones.

You'll report to the Operations Manager - Mechanical. Your responsibilities will include:
Supervising and allocating planned and reactive maintenance work, so jobs are finished on time and comply with current legislation Running a rolling programme of planned preventative maintenance and making sure completed work is recorded in Planon Leading fault-finding on complex technical issues, and giving your technicians hands-on support and technical advice Diagnosing and maintaining pressure systems, HVAC, compressors, steam generation, and domestic and commercial gas, including testing and completing certificates Ordering parts and managing stock levels of consumables Tracking annual leave, absence and staffing levels so essential maintenance always has cover Managing contractors on site, making sure they meet timescales and health and safety standards Building strong relationships with key contacts across the organisation and keeping them updated on progress Helping meet the requirements of an integrated management system covering ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001 Taking part in a formal out-of-hours call-out rota for emergencies What you'll need to succeed You'll be a time-served apprentice with an HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Building Services Engineering You'll have proven experience in mechanical maintenance and in-depth knowledge of mechanical installations You'll have working knowledge of PSSR 2000 and relevant health and safety legislation You'll have experience of motivating, leading and communicating with a team You'll be confident with IT, including MS Office, email and CAFM systems (Planon is an advantage) You'll be able to prioritise competing demands and organise resources to meet deadlines You'll provide a professional, customer-focused service to a wide range of stakeholders A full UK driving licence is desirable What you'll get in return A minimum of 38 days' annual leave including bank holidays and closure days, with the option to buy more A generous pension scheme Flexible working opportunities Ongoing learning, mentoring and professional development Family-friendly policies and wellbeing support A wide range of retail, dining and travel discounts A permanent role with long-term stability in a respected organisation What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to send us an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
