The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the organisation’s financial management, governance, and commercial oversight. The role provides strategic financial leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports effective decision-making across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy- Lead, develop, and motivate the finance function, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Develop and implement the organisation’s financial strategy, aligning financial planning with corporate objectives
- Lead the annual budgeting process and provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership and governing bodies
- Provide high-quality financial insight to support organisational performance and long‑term sustainability
- Develop robust financial forecasts and models to support strategic and operational decision‑making
- Monitor financial performance, providing clear analysis and recommendations to stakeholders
- Support business planning, investment appraisal, and scenario modelling activities
- Drive financial discipline and promote value‑focused decision‑making across the organisation
- Ensure the accurate and timely production of management accounts and statutory financial reports
- Oversee the preparation of annual financial statements
- Maintain effective financial controls, policies, and governance frameworks
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and audit obligations
- Lead engagement with external auditors and coordinate delivery of audit activities
- Maintain and strengthen financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Identify and manage financial and commercial risks
- Oversee procurement and commercial policies, ensuring transparency, compliance, and value for money
- Support commercial decision‑making and contract management activities
- Ensure adherence to relevant procurement and contracting regulations
- Contribute to commercial strategy and financial evaluation of key initiatives
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to finance team members
- Build effective relationships with senior leaders and operational stakeholders
- Communicate financial information clearly to executive and non‑executive audiences
- Act as a trusted advisor on financial and commercial matters
