Role OverviewWe are working with a Trading Company client who is seeking a Senior Commodity Analyst to join their Back Office Settlement Team on an 18‑month fixed‑term contract, starting in January. This is an operational role covering the settlement and reporting of Energy, Base, and Precious Metals derivative products. The position requires strong knowledge of commodity operations and the ability to manage a wide range of tasks that support the trading business across multiple regions.

Senior Commodity Analyst reporting directly to Management.
Scope of Responsibilities- Reconcile trades from recaps and broker statements.
- Manage daily and monthly cash settlements and reconciliations.
- Match trade confirmations.
- Update and review daily margin reports.
- Act as a key point of contact for Energy, Base, and Precious Metals within the front office, including accounting and other internal/external matters.
- Liaise with colleagues across all levels of the organisation.
- Review existing procedures, recommending and implementing more efficient processes.
- Assess problems and propose solutions to management.
- Work closely with trading desks and external clients to ensure timely resolution of queries.
- Cross‑train across all areas of the team.
- Provide cover for daily/monthly tasks and support colleagues during absences.
- Contribute to wider project work, managing deliverables and communicating progress to management.
- Strong knowledge of Back Office commodity operations, particularly in Energy, Base, and Precious Metals.
- Excellent understanding of quantitative analysis for market risk and other risks relating to commodity transactions.
- Solid knowledge of international settlements across multiple currencies and products.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently with ownership, as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure and meet daily deadlines.
- Flexible, proactive, and solutions‑focused mindset.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to recommend and implement improvements.
- Experience managing projects to successful outcomes.
- Solid Back Office/operational experience in commodities.
- Several years’ experience within commodity markets.
- Professional knowledge of commodity trade types.
- Excellent product knowledge across Energy, Base, and Precious Metals.
