Credit Controller

Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Credit Controller role based in Sheffield. The Credit Controller will manage the sales ledger, monitor customer accounts, and ensure timely collection of outstanding payments in line with agreed terms. Daily responsibilities include issuing invoices and statements, reconciling accounts, allocating payments, and following up on overdue debts via phone and email in a professional, customer‑focused manner. The role also involves assessing credit risk, recommending credit limits, maintaining accurate records, and preparing regular reports for management on aged debt and cash flow.

The Credit Controller will collaborate closely with the finance, sales, and operations teams to resolve billing queries, support customers, and improve internal processes.

• Strong credit control and debt collection skills, with experience managing debtors and reducing aged debt.
• Knowledge of credit management principles and practices, including setting and monitoring customer credit limits.
• Solid finance skills, including basic accounting, reconciliation, and understanding of sales ledgers.
• Proficiency with finance or ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (e.g., aged debt reports, reconciliations).
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with a professional and customer‑oriented approach.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively on‑site in a team environment and build positive relationships with colleagues and customers.
• Previous experience in a credit control or finance role is preferred; experience in waste, logistics, or service industries is an advantage.
• Relevant qualification in finance, accounting, or business (or equivalent experience) is beneficial.
