Financial Analyst
Step into this Investment Analyst role and build something that matters in Financial Services.
Financial Services firms in Sheffield are under more scrutiny than ever, from regulators, from clients, from markets that move faster than the reports written about them. This SME has spent years building a reputation for careful, evidence-led investment decisions, and it's grown steadily rather than chasing headlines. An Investment Analyst joining now gets a seat close to where the real decisions happen, not a back-office role shuffling numbers nobody reads.
Here's what you'll be doing:
Build and maintain financial models that actually get used in investment committee decisions
Research sectors, companies and market trends, then write up findings that non-specialists can follow
Track portfolio performance and flag risks before they become problems
Prepare valuation analysis for prospective investments, including sensitivity and scenario work
Work directly with senior analysts and portfolio managers on live deals
Present findings to internal stakeholders, sometimes to clients, with the confidence to defend your numbers
Here are the skills you'll need:
A few years' experience in an investment, research or financial analysis role
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills. You should be comfortable building a model from scratch, not just editing one
A relevant degree, and progress towards or completion of CFA (or similar) is a genuine advantage
Sharp written communication. You'll need to explain complex analysis simply
Commercial judgement that goes beyond the spreadsheet
The resilience to work under deadline pressure without cutting corners
Key perks and benefits:
Salary of £39,500 to £60,500, plus bonus schemes
Private medical insurance and a solid pension contribution
Generous annual leave with flexible working built around it
Office-based role in Sheffield, with a genuine culture of professional development rather than box-ticking
A defined role with real room to grow as the business grows
Why pursue a career in Financial Services?
Financial Services rewards people who get the detail right and can still see the bigger picture. Sheffield has quietly become a serious base for the sector, with lower overheads than London and no shortage of ambition. Progress here tends to be earned rather than handed out, which suits people who want their work to speak for itself.
