Key responsibilities:
Process vetting applications relating to existing and prospective employees, contractors, volunteers and partnership workers in accordance statutory Vetting Code of Practice and Authorised Professional Practice.
Negate, reduce or mitigate security and reputational risks to the organisation through the processing of vetting applications in line with the statutory Vetting Code of Practice and Authorised Professional Practice.
Maintain a good working knowledge of the statutory Vetting Code of Practice and Authorised Professional Practice. Facilitate and provide advice and guidance to Sponsors and applicants in accessing and using the Core-Vet system. The creation, development and maintenance of individual electronic vetting files.
Liaise with stakeholders in the vetting process with respect to standard enquiries, document issues and frequently asked questions.
Undertake vetting enquiries on the details supplied by applicants against local and national police information systems via either direct access and, where necessary, via single points of contact.
Maintain up to date and accurate records of vetting progression and clearances on the Core-Vet System to facilitate performance review, forward planning and the production of other relevant statistical data.
Participate in and/or provide administrative support eive, sort, distribute and appropriately action mail. Provide administrative support during vetting interviews and take lead role when resilience needs necessitate.
Provide administrative support in relation to the charging regime for non-police personnel vetting applications.
Review submitted vetting applications to confirm accuracy and completeness and take any follow up actions necessary.
Contribute to the culture of continuous improvement.
Maintain stock levels and order resources necessary to conduct planned activities.
Contribute to the marketing of the Force Vetting Unit by involvement in the development of publications.
Support the maintenance of the Force's List of designated posts through monitoring of staffing changes and establishment of new posts
Support the co-ordination and execution of the review and appeals process.
