An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Speech and Language Therapists to join the Sheffield Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service working within the acute ward team. It is an exciting environment, working within a supportive and very friendly SLT team. The post available is 37.5 hours per week on a permanent contract.
The successful candidates will be based in the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals SLT service working as members of the team providing SLT to the acute wards across three hospitals, the Northern General, the Royal Hallamshire and Weston Park .
They will provide clinical Speech & Language Therapy to a defined specialised caseload as part of the SLT team.
Main duties of the jobTo provide clinical speech and language therapy services to a defined specialised caseload of adult patients as part of the acute ward SLT team.
To specialise in the assessment and management of communication disorders and dysphagia
To work efficiently as part of the team to ensure that patients receive timely and effective intervention for eating, drinking, swallowing and communication disorders.
To contribute to seamless continuity of care for patients who are seen across speech and language therapy pathways.

The SLT service cover acute and community SLT for adults in Sheffield. It is a large service with 66 members of the team (51.94 wte) including SLTs, SLT assistants and admin support.
The SLT teams are highly motivated to provide a quality service to their patients, they are research active and embrace innovation. The service has established processes for supervision and supports personal and professional development.

Person specification Qualifications- Dysphagia experience/accreditation, including management of complex dysphagia.
- Qualified to work to specialist level on dysphagia competency scale.
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and Health and Care Professions Council.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Extensive post-graduate experience or equivalent.
- Experience up to or at a Band 6 level.
- Experience in working with adults in an acute hospital setting with communication and swallowing difficulties resulting from a wide range of acquired neurological conditions.
- Experience of working with relatives and carers.
- Evidence of multi-disciplinary team working.
- Involvement in development and delivery of training packages.
- Competent in use of IT for everyday…
