We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist neurological rehabilitation provider for an experienced Lead Occupational Therapist to lead a well-established Occupational Therapy team within a specialist inpatient rehabilitation service.
This is an excellent leadership opportunity for an experienced clinician looking to influence service development while maintaining a clinical caseload within a highly respected multidisciplinary rehabilitation environment.
The RoleAs Lead Occupational Therapist, you will provide both clinical and operational leadership to the Occupational Therapy service, supporting a team of Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Technicians.
Alongside leading the service, you will manage a specialist caseload, delivering comprehensive assessments and evidence-based rehabilitation programmes for adults with complex neurological and life-changing injuries.
The service supports individuals with conditions including acquired and traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex neurological disorders, major trauma and limb loss.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Occupational Therapy service, ensuring high standards of clinical practice.
- Provide professional supervision, mentorship and clinical leadership to the Occupational Therapy team.
- Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments, treatment planning and rehabilitation interventions.
- Manage a complex caseload using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.
- Produce detailed clinical and medico-legal quality reports for commissioners, solicitors, case managers and other external professionals.
- Lead service development initiatives, quality improvement projects, audits and clinical governance activities.
- Support policy development, outcome measurement and service evaluation.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to optimise client outcomes.
- Contribute to education, staff development and student placements.
- Represent the organisation at professional meetings, conferences and external events.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration.
- Master's level education or equivalent advanced clinical knowledge and experience.
- Significant post-registration Occupational Therapy experience.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working within specialist neurological or complex rehabilitation services.
- At least 2 years' leadership experience
, including supervision, mentoring and service management. - Experience managing complex neurological rehabilitation caseloads.
- Strong clinical reasoning, report writing and assessment skills.
- Experience contributing to service development, audit and clinical governance.
- Excellent communication, leadership and multidisciplinary working skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- RCOT membership.
- Leadership or management qualification.
- Experience with in independent or private healthcare.
- Medico-legal rehabilitation experience.
- Research and service evaluation.
- Budget or resource management.
- Casting, splinting or advanced rehabilitation technologies.
- Experience supporting clients with cognitive impairment and behaviours that challenge.
